The Scholia to the Iliad

The Homer Multitext project is creating the first complete inventory of the scholia to the Iliad ever published. Our initial aims are to identify every scholion in the Venetus A, and to link each identified scholion to a citation of a visual source.

In the summer of 2010, Melissa Browne and Francis Hartel completely inventoried and edited the scholia to books 3 and 4 of the Iliad. (Only about 80% of these scholia had been previously published in any form.) Their inventories and editions of the texts have now been submitted for review; you may use this web application to see their inventories with location of each scholion overlayed on photographs of the manuscript.
